On June 17, Lithuanian professionals from all over Asia connected for the first cross-continental online meeting. They were invited to discuss the future of the Asia-wide club of professionals, its concept, personal and professional values, and benefits of cooperation. The event united Lithuanians from 10 countries, namely China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
The organizational committee, consisting of Alminas Žaldokas (Hong Kong), Audra Pakalnytė (Malaysia), Vesta Ratkevičiūtė (Singapore) and Lina Dusevičienė (GLL) expressed hope that this event will kickstart a strong network of Lithuanian professionals in Asia as a platform to connect, grow and share.
Guest speaker Vilma Green, board member of Lithuanian City of London Club, shared her personal motivation to actively engage in club activities as well as best practices for a club to grow and flourish for as long as 15 years. She highlighted the benefits of the clubs for professional and personal development, of belonging to a creative and ambitious community, of valuable connections and joint projects for common good. The program of professional mentorship LT Big Brother started at LCLC and has grown into a solid global community counting the 13th season. Vilma also pointed out that some pub socials of LCLC resulted in a few successful business partnerships, such as Iron Wolf Capital and Genus AI, as well as marriages.
Later, the participants were invited to share their views on the benefits and concepts of further cooperation in small break-out rooms of 4 people. They all used this opportunity to exchange contact information and inspiring ideas, as well as expressed united hope for further possibility to meet and prolong the communication.
The networking session was concluded with the joint decision to reunite once a month and network to learn about each other’s professional careers, interests, and life experiences.
The last participants left the zoom room well into Asian night with a deliberate decision to establish a networking platform and meet again soon.
If you have not had the chance to attend the networking session, keep an eye on the GLL Facebook or LinkedIn, where we will announce the upcoming events for Lithuanian Professionals in Asia.
