Ministry of Economics and Innovation Introduces Lithuanians Abroad to the Passport of Opportunities

2021-06-01

On May 26, Lithuanian Ministry of Economics and Innovations held a meeting with Global Lithuanians on the newly introduced Passport of Opportunities. During the meeting, representatives of the ministry went over the functioning of the pass and the criteria global Lithuanians visiting have to fulfill in order to acquire it.
Here is a short summary we prepared after the event. Please, note that GLL is not an official government site and use this information as general guidance only. Before making any final decisions, check with Lithuanian authorities here>>
Main information:
– Those visiting Lithuania from EU, EEA countries will have to self-isolate for 10 days, unless they have documents proving full vaccinations with the vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA): Comirnaty (Pfizer), Moderna, Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca), or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson). The self-isolation period can be cut short by performing a PCR Covid 19 test on the 7th day of self-isolation.
– The Passport of Opportunities is a document intended to ease quarantine restrictions to those who have been vaccinated, have contracted Covid19 in the past 180 days or have a negative PCR test that was done in the last 72hrs of its use. Those eligible for the passport can download it via gpasas.lt and use it to enter cultural events and public spaces, such as restaurants, cafés, bars etc.
– The passport can only be used by Lithuanian citizens, who have a social security number. They can get the document by logging in through the government electronic identification system, or by going to the National Registry Centre. In order to obtain the pass, one has to have one of the following documents, preferably in English or Lithuanian languages:

                 >> Document certifying the vaccination of a person against COVID-19 disease;
                 >> Negative laboratory test (SARS-CoV-2 PCR test (within the last 72h) or antigen test (carried out not more than 24 hours before the time of sampling);
                 >> Document certifying that the person has a history of COVID-19 disease in the last 180 days;
                 >> Document confirming the age of the child (applies to persons under 16 years of age);

– The presentation of the specified documents may be requested together with an identity document. A person can submit documents in printed or digital format. However, if you come to Lithuania from the United Kingdom, you can also submit a United Kingdom vaccination statement when going to a café, you do not need the Passport of Opportunities.

There are a lot of nuances related to various countries, therefore we highly recommend watching the entire presentation here>>, especially if you are planning a long stay in Lithuania this summer.
