Prof. Dr. Thomas Bryer

Prof. dr. Thomas Bryer teaches at the University of Central Florida (UCF), in Orlando. His expertise is in citizen participation, civil society development, and collaboration across government, nonprofit, private, higher education, and faith sectors to address the complex issues faced by communities. He was a Fulbright Scholar in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) from 2015-2017, and at KTU he currently supervises a PhD student and leads a research project on non-economic factors of emigration from Lithuania, funded by the Lithuanian Research Council. In 2019, UCF and KTU launched a new, innovative dual degree program in public administration and nonprofit management, which will help strengthen the NGO sector in Lithuania through professional training, academic development, and exposure to international practices.

Thomas Bryer’s family roots are in Lithuanian with his maternal grandmother, he has found some of his cousins since beginning his work in the country. Maternal and paternal family names include Ginelevicius, Pupelis, and Bucinskas.
